A glimpse into Ecolite’s plans for 2009

January 7th, 2009

2009 has arrived and with it a newly designed website for Ecolite.  It’s only fitting that we give our audience (whomever that may be) a glimpse into our world.  What possibly could I or the Ecolite staff have to blog about walls, the state of sustainable building in America, or the next big idea in structural building systems?  Well, more than you might think.

Walls may not seem all that exciting.  But we are all in the midst of a sea change in construction.  A rethinking of the way structures are designed, coupled with an increasingly viable supply of new, sustainable building materials, is a driving force behind most of the buildings going up in the Western United States.  Until recently, building green required a compromise on some aspect of the overall building process.  New building technologies have given rise to product innovations that now provide significant green properties, speed of fabrication, ease of installation, and lower costs.  The Ecolite building system is among those exciting new technologies.

A lot of people ask me, “What does Ecolite do?”  My answer?  Ecolite licenses a hybrid structural wall system which enables manufacturers to design, fabricate, distribute and install a new breed of wall.  In 2008 Ecolite successfully established its first full scale manufacturing operation through a licensing agreement to RQ Construction. The new semi-automated plant will be capable of delivering millions of square feet per year.  With increasing Department of Defense and Commercial acceptance, Ecolite is now pursuing licensing and plant establishment across the United States and Canada.  Lastly, Ecolite has entered into an exclusive relationship with Poraver North America to provide their revolutionary recycled glass additive exclusively to Ecolite for use in our walls.

As it turns out, walls can be pretty exciting.

My hope is that this blog will serve as view into Ecolite’s adventure in changing the way buildings are constructed.   See for yourself… And, feel free to respond and tell us what you’re seeing in the marketplace.

Best Regards,

James
